I just wanted to write about my favorite class at Ed week. It was taught by Merrilee Boyack. You may have heard of her, or read one of her books. She is fabulous! I went to several of her classes and loved every one! This one imparticular that I wanted to write about was about goals. She says that you need to set goals until you are 100 years old. She says that too many people set goals and then when they achieve them, (or give up on them) then they never set more. Now I have never been a goal setter. That is not true, I set them, but I never do them. I try and make them achievable, but it never seems to happen. But something about what she said made so much more sense to me that anything else about goals ever has. She made it seem really doable!
Anyway, she told us to dream really big! Then to write down all of our dreams. She told us to set marriage dreams, family dreams, faith dreams, financial dreams, home dreams (not just where you want to live or how you want your home to look, but how you want your home to feel), fitness and appearance dreams, friendship dreams, personal dreams, professional dreams, fun dreams, and an outrageous dream. She gave us assignments like writing our eulogy and a personal essay to help us figure out our dreams. This actually helped a ton! These are our life long goals that we want to accomplish.
Then she told us to set yearly goals that support our life long dreams. This made so much sense to me! I could hardly believe that I had never thought of doing it before. She also challenged us to do what she calls a perfect year. It is one goal that you set for yourself that you do perfectly for one year. If you miss a day, then you start your year over until you have done it for a year straight. I have been so excited about this. I have set my goals and so far I have done great!
